What Are The Types Of Prostate Surgery

There are several types and procedures for Prostate Surgery In Delhi NCR, and what you may expect from your treatment will depend on the one your surgeon employs. To mention a few distinctions, an incision may or may not be necessary; all, part, or none of the prostate gland may be removed; and some surrounding tissue may or may not be excised as well.

If you're having prostate surgery to treat prostate cancer or the urinary symptoms or problems of an enlarged prostate, also known as benign prostatic hyperplasia, the decision is primarily based on whether you're having it to treat prostate cancer or benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

A radical prostatectomy is the most common form of surgery used to treat Prostate Surgery In Delhi NCR. The whole prostate gland, as well as adjacent structures, is removed during this procedure (the seminal vesicles and, sometimes, surrounding lymph nodes).

Because the prostate gland typically connects the bladder to the urethra—the tube within the penis—once the prostate gland is removed, the surgeon must also reconnect the bladder to the urethra.

There are three techniques to execute a radical prostatectomy:

An open radical prostatectomy is when the surgeon makes a wider incision across the lower abdomen to gain access to the prostate gland. An incision between the anus and the scrotum is used less frequently to reach the prostate (the perineum).

Laparoscopic radical prostatectomy: This minimally invasive procedure involves inserting long, thin tools via numerous keyhole-sized incisions in the lower abdomen to gain access to the prostate gland.

obotic-assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy: In this procedure, the surgeon sits at a computer console and manipulates small robotic arms/instruments to remove the prostate gland through multiple keyhole-size incisions.

You will wake up in the recovery room following Prostate Surgery In Delhi NCR  from the anaesthetic or sedative medicine. Your vital signs will be monitored by a nurse, who will also handle any post-operative symptoms such as discomfort. You will be released (perhaps with cystoscopy if surgery is for BPH) or likely overnight if surgery is for prostate cancer once you are awake and ready. You will be transported to a hospital room in the latter situation.
