The
enlargement of the prostate gland, which is located below the bladder, is
called enlarged prostate. The enlargement of the prostate disrupts the flow of
urine as it surrounds the urethra tube, which takes urine from bladder and out
through penis. It happens with the advancement in the age and persons above the
age of 60 can suffer from it. The enlargement is not sign of cancer and its
occurrence does not pose any risk of cancer in the future. It is also called
benign non cancerous enlargement or benign prostate hyperplasia.

the bladder cannot empty itself because of narrow urethra and urine remains in it.
Thus any difficulty in urine and need for frequent going for urination is the
first symptoms of the enlargement of prostate gland. When bladder is not
completely free of urine, the possibility of urinary tract infection arises. Blood
in the urine, bladder stone and inability to urinate may follow next.
Medicines
like alpha blocker may not work for every patient. Another medicine 5 alpha reductase inhibitor
can help in shrinking of the prostate but the patient has to take these
medicines for at least 6 or may be up to 12 months to see their positive effect.
The
surgeries are the most effective method to relieve the symptoms. They type of
