shock therapy –this method is used for the stone that do not come
naturally through urine. In this method the high frequency sound
waves are direct on the kidney stones. The high frequency waves
disintegrate the stone into smaller parts. These smaller parts are
then made to come out of the body by urine. This method may be bit
painful for some patient, so surgeon uses pain killers before the
start of treatment. Surgeon may recommend more than one therapy
session for successful treatment.
Ureteroscopy
method is used when the stone is struck in the urethra. A thin
telescope called, ureteroscope is inserted into the bladder through
urethra. Then it is passed to the place of the stone. The surgeon
then uses a laser to break the stone into smaller parts or use
another instrument to remove the stone. This surgery method is done
under general anesthesia.
Percutaneous
nepthrolithotomy procedure is used for large stones. This method is
used on the people who are unsuitable for shock wave therapy. In this
method, a thin telescope is inserted into the body through an
incision from the back. The telescope is passed to the kidney to
either pull the stone or break it into smaller parts with the help of
a laser. The patient is under general anesthesia during the entire
operation. The rate of effectiveness of this procedure is 85 %.
